Malta Week 2

14/02/20

The saga continues ….

Us vs 20 French students

(for context we have some very annoying french neighbours. Always shouting moving stuff they are the worst.)

I could say literally that this week started off with a bang because it was the feast of saint paul's shipwreck. Like our very own st patricks day there were celebrations all day in valletta and we got up super early to arrive in valletta to see everything kick off. Online we saw that there were fireworks at 9 am but after about 3 hours there was no sign of them. How could google lie to us, we decided to journey as our previous ventures into valletta were brief and we found something much better than fireworks…... CANONS . We learned of the tradition of depending on your rank as a saint they celebrate differently . a low grade saint would get maybe a few rounds of salute but St Paul is the patron saint of Malta he gets 8 canons. It was amazing and the soldiers firing the cannons were in very flashy uniforms that reminded me of some of the costumes alan would wear in life drawing.

Tuesday was the hottest it has been since we arrived in Malta. I have never appreciated air conditioning more in my life. It was the kind of heat that just smacks you in the face so i decided to stay in and do work. It was nice to just sit down and work. Later on we had a team meeting. Catherine brought up good points about everyone's role and the brief so we made some adjustments that she would do the two panels on the back of the dinner scene.

Wednesday was more or less the same as tuesday and we got confirmation of meeting at st pauls the following day.one of the things that have been driving me crazy is that there's construction going on right beside our apartment just drilling all day and it starts at 7am because they are allowed to do that here.

Much like monday we woke up early to arrive at st paul's catacombs for 9 to meet mary rose and her colleagues. We proposed the idea of the two mascots and how we wanted to do the brochure. Catherine made a ‘’dummy’ brochure and everyone seemed to really like it. We also got our passes to get into museums etc for heritage malta and we got a tour of the catacombs from one of the curators. It felt like what we should have gotten last week because reading off of signs etc is fine and they have a lot of interactive stuff to inform you but actually meeting someone who knows the catacombs was ideal. It got me hyped and it's great to finally have it all sorted. I have never dealt with this kind of work before so I'm learning so much from all of this.

It was my birthday on Friday so shenanigans ensued. I made sure during the week to get all of the work done so I could enjoy myself.
