Matla week 1

After a very relaxing flight with the occasional snores from Caoimhe Hennessy we were greeted by the bus not showing up. I knew the minibus shouldn't have been booked in Luke's name but after delegation and back and forth between receptions me and Paige finally reached our apartment.

The following day we set off on an adventure with the help of google maps honestly I don't how people survived before that app. We found a lidl in the land of far away and uphill so that began our quest returning with the spoils of crisps milk and random everyday items.

We all became very comfortable with our surroundings. We went to the harbour and enjoyed the views. It was beautiful. That day was the faithful day that Albert Instagram @albertsadventure was created and changed our lives forever.

Finally the Monday we met with heritage Malta , figuring out the buses was a bit complicated at first but we managed. The meeting wasn't what i expected we had to remind them of the brief but they were very happy for us to get started and suggested that we go visit other sites and decide what we want to work on. We took their suggestion to visit other sites so while we were in the areas we went to the inquisitor's palace and had a very lovely and informative tour guide. In reflection of the rocky sea of our trip so far we visited the maritime museum. I didn't have much interest but it was fun to do things as a group.

Tuesday crept up and we split as a group Caoimhe Hennessy and Carla parted for their quest to Esplora. We finally got to see what we flew 3 and a half hours to see St Paul's catacombs. As part of our brief we had to explore the catacomb and come up with a brochure. At first we were overwhelmed with what was proposed because we had been aware of the brief and the brochure was the last thing on their mind. Their concept was to market the place for family parties which is not what we were told but we made a compromise to still do the brochure but make it more child friendly. With this lack of communication our contact offered us a lift to so we ventured forth to the catacomb. At home my friends make fun of my short stature but alas it came in handy with the small crawl spaces and low ceiling of the catacombs so who is laughing now.

After the damp of the catacomb we took the bus back and went to the silent city of Medina and i can tell you it is not so silent city with wildly expensive cars hotels and tourists flooding the place. One highlight of the trek was we went to a dungeon with replica statues of the horror and atrocities of the persecution of the people of Medina. Wild forms of torture because of religion or invasions was a sight to behold. Our adventure was lengthened by Paige's need to shop. I felt like the people being tortured in the dungeons as I followed Paige but I carried on and bought some nice clothes.

Wednesday we got the metal beast to Valletta. The metal beast referred to as the number 13 bus was packed and very uncomfortable, unable to acquire a seat i was the mercy of the hand grip attached to the rail but not quite attached to rail i was of the rail swinging like a fictional character annoying everyone beside me on the bus, my short stature had been and advantage but in that moment it was my downfall. Valletta was what i expected Medina to be like and it was great to not have to worry about traffic. After being in a very sketchy coffee shop we went to the archaeology museum to research more for the catacomb. But go tobhan the wind picked up and we blew into the palace armoury. After looking at some funky helmets to my dismay, Paige wanted to go shopping again

On Thursday our quest stalled as we stayed at the apartment gathered our notes, looked through the brochures we collected and as a team decided on what we wanted to do deciding on the theme what roles everyone would have and what we should do next week. My role is to do the cover back and some of the background stuff. Paige's role is to design the character and people on the brochure. We thought having animal mascots would appeal to children. Luke's role is to do the background of the underground of the catacombs focusing on the back. Catherine is going to design the timeline and the archaeology tools. We originally planned to have a centipede but Catherine's idea of archaeology pegs was such a good idea.

Maggs really wanted to go to Gozo so we went there for her last day in Malta . We again went on the metal beast of the 222 bus then rode on a ferry to complete our pilgrimage to Gozo. We went on one of those tourist buses which was worth every cent with hilarious moments such as the narrow roads of the villages having cars greet us with the beeping of their horns and the tour bus driving past a lavish funeral twice. The wind was as cold as an ex partner but the warmth of the cafe or the ferry was welcomed. Our journey was long but worth it seeing the sites we might return to Gozo in the latter weeks. With sunburn on my cheeks (not those ones silly) we had a sneak Chinese at the apartment and then scrambled to write this very report of our adventure so far to complete our brochure of St Paul's catacomb and to discover our destiny.
